Convert a bank statement PDF to Excel
Get your transactions into Excel with real dates and numbers, ready for SUM and pivot tables.
Two ways into Excel
- CSV (free): opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers. Dates are in YYYY-MM-DD so Excel reads them correctly whatever your regional settings.
- Excel .xlsx (Pro): a formatted workbook with date cells, two-decimal number cells, a frozen header and an Amount column (credits minus debits) ready to total.
Tips
- Use the PDF your bank lets you download, not a scan; text PDFs convert exactly.
- Converting a year of statements? Pro lets you drop all twelve at once and get a single sorted sheet.
Questions
Will the amounts be numbers or text?
Numbers. Debits and credits are separate number columns and the Amount column is signed, so formulas work straight away.
Is my bank statement uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and read inside your browser with pdf.js. Your transactions never reach our servers or anyone else's. Check your browser's Network tab while converting.
Which banks does it work with?
Any statement that is a real (text) PDF with a transaction table: date, description, and either one amount column or separate debit and credit columns, with or without a running balance. That covers most US and Canadian banks and credit cards. Scanned statements need OCR, which is in Pro.
How do I know the numbers are right?
Every row is checked against the statement's running balance (opening balance + credits − debits). Rows that don't add up are highlighted so you can fix them in the grid before exporting.
