PDF bank statement to QBO
Create a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) or OFX file from a PDF statement.
Importing into QuickBooks
- Convert the statement above and check the balances reconcile.
- Choose the account type (checking, savings or credit card) and currency, then download QBO (Pro).
- In QuickBooks Online go to Banking → Upload transactions and pick the file; in Desktop use File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files.
Each transaction gets a stable ID, so importing the same file twice won't double up in QuickBooks.
Questions
QuickBooks says the bank is not supported
Some QuickBooks Desktop versions only accept QBO files with specific bank IDs. Use the CSV or OFX export instead, which QuickBooks also imports.
Is my bank statement uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and read inside your browser with pdf.js. Your transactions never reach our servers or anyone else's. Check your browser's Network tab while converting.
Which banks does it work with?
Any statement that is a real (text) PDF with a transaction table: date, description, and either one amount column or separate debit and credit columns, with or without a running balance. That covers most US and Canadian banks and credit cards. Scanned statements need OCR, which is in Pro.
How do I know the numbers are right?
Every row is checked against the statement's running balance (opening balance + credits − debits). Rows that don't add up are highlighted so you can fix them in the grid before exporting.
